Innovation Engineer – Optical Systems (all genders)
in Jena, Germany or remotely/hybrid
Your responsibilities in detail
- Technology scouting and trend monitoring in the fields of optics, lighting, imaging, sensor technology and photonics
- Assessing the technical feasibility and innovation potential of new concepts
- Developing and building functional models and prototypes
- Close collaboration with internal development departments (optics, electronics, software, mechanics)
- Definition and simulation of new optical concepts
- Conducting feasibility studies and system analyses
- Supporting the transition of innovative concepts into product development
- Identification, drafting and filing of patents and intellectual property rights
- Collaboration with research partners, universities and technology suppliers
- Presentation of concepts and results to internal committees and decision-making teams
What you bring to the role
- A degree in physics, optics, microscopy, photonics, engineering or a comparable discipline
- Several years’ experience in optical system development or microscopy Knowledge of optical design
- Experience in experimental set-up, prototyping and system integration
- Experience with imaging, illumination systems, laser technology or fluorescence techniques
- Understanding of mechanical and electronic interfaces in microscopes
- Ability to quickly grasp new technologies and assess their applicability
